The Original Downeast Flash Fiction Contest

Enter the 5th Annual Machias Arts Council Flash Fiction Contest and share your story with readers throughout Downeast Maine.

This year’s theme, “Something Wicked This Way Comes in Machias,” invites writers to explore the eerie, mysterious, and unexpected through original flash fiction inspired by Machias and the surrounding coast.

From fog-covered shores to unforgettable encounters along the river, we’re celebrating the darker side of Downeast storytelling.
