Welcome to the Machias Arts Council
The Machias Arts Council is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that fosters creativity, economic vitality and cultural engagement through artist advocacy and distinctive events that celebrate vibrancy of the Arts. A beacon of creative inspiration along the Bold Coast of Downeast Maine, the MAC builds community through volunteer membership and support.
First Friday Art Walk
Downtown Machias will be alive with local and regional artists. Artwork will be displayed at the Normal Nelson Park on Route 1. At each of the Art booths, participants will get to view local art, chat with artists, participate in interactive activities, listen to live music, all while enjoying a summer evening in Machias. You can even choose to purchase a piece of art! The Art Walk takes place the first Friday of each month, June through September.

The compellation of all the entries from the Flash Fiction Contest for the Ghosts of Machias (2023) and the Scarecrows of Machias (2022) is now available!
